Dog Licensing
License fees: $20 per dog or $12 for each neutered or spayed dog. Kennel/Multiple licensing - $80.
Dog license fees increased in 2026 because of an increased amount that is required from the state and Humane Society. The county and municipalities are not allowed to make money on dog license fees. State law requires that all dogs must be licensed yearly. Before a license can be issued, you must furnish proof of rabies vaccination per Wis. Statues §174.07.
Marathon County enforces the Dog Ordinance for the Town of Berlin. Any dog issues should be reported to the Marathon County Sheriff's Department at 715-261-1200.

Wisconsin State Statutes mandate that the owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1st, or 5 months of age within this year, shall obtain a license prior to April 1st or on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age.
